Maine CRMA 40-hour hybrid course
$385 per student
This Maine CRMA 40-hour hybrid course (Certified Residential Medication Aide) is Maine DHHS-approved for unlicensed certification to administer non-injectable medications to residents in a licensed residential care setting.
This hybrid course is only for students who are unable to attend a full in-person class due to work schedules, are already experienced in healthcare, and can manage independent study.
Licensed settings include assisted living, nursing home, outpatient medical office, drug detox recovery, and a variety of residential healthcare settings.
The hybrid course is completed in 3 steps:
Read and review the Maine CRMA curriculum. Enrolled students will have access to our study guide and online learning lab.
Students meet with the instructor for an in-person skills and assessment session, with med-pass practice, scenario discussion, and to complete the written three unit quizzes and final exam.
“The Med Pass” After successful completion of the in-person session, a hands-on “med pass” is conducted at the student’s own workplace, with a Registered Nurse (RN), using the CRMA skills checklist. "This is a hands-on demonstration to administer/pass the actual meds to the Resident(s), utilizing the CRMA skills checklist *
The skills checklist must be completed at the workplace with an RN
you must give at least 5-6 meds and document each one
both you and the RN sign and date on the 2nd page
email the completed checklist to us in PDF format to info@medpromaine.com, and include a copy of the RN's license
It is your responsibility to verify your new certificate

A CRMA may also administer injectable insulin or an EpiPen, with additional training by an RN (see our Diabetes training course)
All CRMA certificates expire every two years (see our CRMA recertification course)
Following a guided self-study format through our online staff/student learning lab, students will meet for a one-day session with the instructor for skills review, competency evaluation, group discussion, and proctored quiz/exam testing. (Grading guidelines are outlined in the CRMA curriculum Introduction)
After successful completion of the in-person/exam session, a hands-on med pass must be completed with an RN at the workplace, which validates the student’s competency, utilizing the CRMA skills checklist. The completed skills checklist is emailed to the instructor, in PDF format
Students are responsible for verifying the skills checklist was received, and to check the certificate portal link from our website, for their active CRMA certificate, before working independently as a CRMA
Maine only accepts CRMA or CNA-M certificates, and CRMA certificates are not valid in other states
